Hey I am Maï, the founder of Yuna!
I'm a 22 yo French graphic designer, living between Bretagne and Western Australia. Yuna is one of the names my parents picked for me before I was born. It means "wish" or "desire" in Breton, the Celtic language from where I'm from.
I've been dreaming of creating swimwear for years, and this dream slowly became a desire I needed to fulfil. I spent so much time telling myself I wasn't good enough, doubting my skills, doubting my creativity. But after going through a rough patch in my life, I came to realise I couldn't wait to be ready. I had to do it, no matter what. Because life doesn't wait for you to be ready.
Designed with purpose
For years I struggled to find a swimsuit that would stay put when surfing, playing in the shore break, or even just being. So I decided my goal with Yuna would be to design swimwear that's adjustable, supportive and flattering.
As women, we spend so much time being self-conscious, comparing ourselves to others. And when we finally decide to step into the light, our swimwear doesn't. That's what I want to change.
That's why I started with a one piece shorty. Flattering no matter how old you are, no matter how you look. I want women to feel confident. No matter what.
